PA CONFERENCE OF TEAMSTERS

Strength In Numbers - 95,000 Members

About the President
President William Hamilton

William Hamilton, a Teamster since 1966, has served at many levels of Teamster elected office. He was elected President of Local 107 in 2000, a position he still holds. In his time at the local, he organized many new Teamsters, and worked closely with freight and DHL members. Hamilton was appointed as an Eastern Region International Vice President in early 2008. Hamilton was appointed as the President of the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamster, effective January 1, 2010 and he is also the President of Teamsters Joint Council No. 53 in Philadelphia, PA.

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

It is an extreme honor to serve the Conference in this capacity and to be entrusted with this position and responsibility.

I, along with the entire Executive Board will work diligently to oppose any legislation that would have an adverse impact on our members. You deserve strong and coordinated representation in the political process at the state and federal levels to protect you rights under law, and to make certain that labor is always on a level playing field.

Now more than ever, we need to stand united to combat all the negative forces working against us in these trying times.

The PA Conference was incepted in 1984 as the political action arm of the Teamsters. Over the years our strength has always been in our numbers. The Conference is widely recognized as a viable force across the U.S. and  recently, other states have been looking at setting-up state conferences based on our model.

Once again, I can assure you we will make certain that we hold elected officials accountable for their actions should they support legislation that harms the working men and women of this great nation. When 95,000 voices speak, you can be sure politicians will be listening.

Fraternally,

William Hamilton
President

TEAMSTERS RE-ELECT WILLIAM HAMILTON

 AS HEAD OF THE PENNSYLVANIA

CONFERENCE OF TEAMSTERS

May 16, 2012

(Harrisburg, PA) – President Hamilton and his slate of candidates have been re-elected to a new four-year term by acclamation. The Delegates attending the 8th Area Convention of the PA Conference of Teamsters demonstrated their strong support for the incumbent officers and their loyalty to the PA Conference. It was gratifying to see the unity and solidarity of all the affiliates. President Hamilton wishes to congratulate his slate and thank all the delegates for supporting his slate and supporting the Conference.  The re-elected officers clearly expressed that each is there to serve the interest of the membership in opposing laws and outside forces that attempt to undermine the integrity and well being of the Teamsters. Each has further pledged to work tirelessly to give all the affiliates the best possible service.

President Hamilton noted that the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters has become the most powerful and aggressive labor body in Pennsylvania, and promised four more years of continued positive action with programs on political action, legislation, voter registration and membership participation as priorities. President Hamilton vowed to continue and improve the Pennsylvania Conference’s aims and goals of giving the workers of Pennsylvania and the other Conference States the highest standards of representation in all levels of political action and legislation.

As the largest, most powerful labor organization in the state, the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters officers recognize and accept their duty to represent the interests of the Conference’s 95,000 members and of all working men and women in the political process.

The Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters is the political arm of the Teamsters in Pennsylvania. It coordinates Teamster political activity and fights for working families on labor, construction and public employee issues.

The Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters represents more than 95,000 Teamsters from 47 Local Unions and 18 Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen divisions in the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and West Virginia. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million hardworking men and women throughout the United States and Canada.
